Thing 7

Email can be too much sometimes. I really liked the email productivity hints. Talk about down to earth. I have used IM quite a bit with students and family who are over seas. Great way to stay in touch and share files if you need to. The impersonality of im is interesting. You can say things to people that you would never say to their face, or ask questions that would be uncomfortable in person. I have friends who prefer this method of communicating with several of their friends because they actually have a better relationship online than they do face to face.
How can we use text messaging, and IM in a K-12 one building school district? 30% of our population does not have online access at home and those that do don't always keep the school up to date when they make changes to email addresses or cell phone numbers. We have tried sending over due notices by email and we get to many returned bad addresses.
My Assistant Librarian (the one who really runs the show here) has used Webinars and really likes them I have yet to experience them. With the price of gas going up it makes Webinars in the far northern part of the state very appealing.
